A message from Dr. Lopes

Welcome to Rise Academy! If you’ve found your way here, it’s because you’re curious about our school—and I’m so glad you are. Rise Academy is truly one of a kind.

As the only independent, Christian high school in Richmond’s East End, we exist to ensure students don’t have to leave their community to find a learning environment that meets their needs. Our school is about more than classroom learning–it’s about creating a space where students feel seen, empowered, and guided every day they’re here. That’s what makes this work not just meaningful, but essential.

At Rise, students deepen their faith, thrive both academically and socially, and develop their identities. Our supportive environment helps students be courageous, embrace new perspectives, seize opportunities, and dream big. With small class sizes and a holistic approach, we provide personalized support, rigorous academics, and opportunities that broaden students’ horizons. We also serve as a community resource through our after-school program, welcoming K-8th grade students from all schools to engage in safe, enriching out-of-school adventures. We’re blessed to do all of this in Richmond’s East End, positioned among organizations, neighbors, and partners investing in education and the bright future of our community.

From the youngest students in our after-school program to our graduating seniors, my greatest hope is that every student who walks through our doors discovers their God-given potential, explores their interests, and leaves ready to take their next steps with confidence. Rise Academy students remind me every day that the future is bright.

I’ve never loved a school more than I love Rise and there’s nowhere else in Richmond like it! I invite you to experience it for yourself—send me an email, and let’s find a time to connect.
